Let's Optimize Your Instagram!

Instagram is the world's fourth largest social media platform, with over 1.386 billion users. What does this mean for you as a small business owner? That means you have greater and easier access to your ideal clients than ever before. Not only can you find and connect with potential clients and business partners, but those same people can now find you more easily. And, with the wedding industry becoming more competitive than ever, we recommend that you follow the four tips below on optimizing your Instagram to help your ideal wedding couples find and engage with you and your brand!

1. Username

Your Instagram username should be the company's name, or as close to it as possible. If your company name is already in use as someone else's Instagram handle, consider including a brief description of your services. For example, if your company name is All Seeing Eye Photography, look for usernames that are already in use, such as AllSeeingEyePhoto, AllSeeingEyePhotography, or AllSeeingEyeCA (if you are in California), and choose the one that is closest to your business name and still available.

2. Account Name

Instead of using your account name as your username, change it to a simple description of the product or service you provide. Consider using widely searched terms that potential consumers would type in to find your service or product. For example, a wedding venue would use "Los Angeles Outdoor Wedding Venue" instead of their company name.

3. About Me

In the About Me section of your Instagram profile clearly define what you do and what makes you unique, in under 150 characters. Include fun emojis and a link to your website for easy accessibility to more information on your business.

4. Content

Utilize Instagram's variety of features including Posts, Stories, Reels, and Video when sharing content. Each person interacts with the app in a different way and has different preferences on how they take in their information. Some people prefer to hang out in the stories section while others prefer watching short video reels. Try producing content using each feature to later analyze where your ideal consumer hangs out on Instagram and make more content there. For example, if your reels get the highest engagement, post more reels over stories or picture posts.
